Hypnosis for Childbirth

A woman can often have negative thoughts, stress, anxiety and worry about giving birth. Obviously giving birth (either for the first time or not) is supposed to be a wonderful and extremely special time in one's life. However that does not mean that a woman does not feel extreme worry in the lead up to the event. In the anticipation of giving birth, a woman can create negative thoughts about any step of delivering their baby. Whether these thoughts are regarding contractions, the health of the baby or the environment the baby is delivered in – all of these issues can worry a mother-to-be quite dramatically. If these negative thoughts are created during the pregnancy, a woman is in actual fact experiencing a pattern of self hypnosis. The key to a successful childbirth is relaxation in order for the body and mind to deal with the pain involved. As we have already established, hypnosis can help one change how the brain experiences pain. Hypnosis can prepare and equip a woman for the day of birth, making the experience one of complete relaxation and enjoyment. Hypnosis can equip a woman with the control she needs to deliver her baby in a calm and relaxed manner. There is a clear 'knock on' effect when using hypnosis for childbirth. If the woman is calm and relaxed, she will feel less pain. With less pain, there is less of a need for drug intervention. Without the use of drugs, the body and mind of the woman are working in a focused manner therefore her body acts accordingly. The greater the focus and control of the mother, the shorter the labor from start to finish. The shorter the labor, the less stressful it is for the baby and also a reduced risk of medical intervention. All of these important factors result in a healthy and happy baby and mother.
