In a few appointments heal from breakups and bereavement so life feels possible again. I’ve spent over twenty years helping clients around the world, so they can cope and feel better.
When someone or something important disappears from your life, your mind keeps running the “film” of what happened – the good times, the arguments, the end, the “what ifs”. Hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level to:
You don’t forget the person or pretend it didn’t matter. Instead, you remember them without the raw, constant pain dominating everything. you don’t have to stay stuck in that moment forever. With the right support, your mind can gently let go and move on.
Heartbreak and loss show up in many ways:
“Now I feel calm and don’t mind that he’s got on with his life with his new partner. I never thought I’d reach this point.”
Clare, Brighton

Heartbreak, loss and divorce hypnotherapy may help if:
I’ll guide you step by step to achieve lasting change.
At home on the phone: I connect with English-speaking clients worldwide (UK, Europe, USA, Australia) via phone or WhatsApp audio, which works exceptionally well for hypnotherapy.
In-Person: I also see clients face-to-face at clinics at the Portland Clinic in Wimpole Street, London (W1) or in St Albans.

90 Minutes: The first half is a relaxed discussion. We talk about what is going on in your life and what you want to work on. We discuss patterns, triggers and goals. In the second half, I guide you through a tailored hypnotherapy session to release root causes and begin making changes immediately. You can cover multiple issues in each session.

60–75 Minutes: These are usually spaced two weeks apart to reinforce the changes and address any new layers that come up. Each session deepens the changes. You can have a top up at time in the future. Some clients like to have regular sessions to deal with life , work and business issues as they arise.

I typically work with clients over 2 to 4 appointments. I believe in a bespoke approach, some hypnotherapists might try to sign you up for a long, expensive course. I don't work that way. I start with a minimum of two appointments, with further sessions booked only based on your individual needs.

After years of counselling which was just going over old ground talking about the same issues, hypnotherapy with Ailsa has actually moved me on. I was crying every day from a breakup and betrayal now I don't message friends because I am not coping instead I manage my feelings. The techniques and phone sessions have taught me so much. I have also moved on from childhood feelings of my dad not wanting me or being in my life.

Think of hypnotherapy as a fully conscious, deep relaxation. It feels a bit like that lovely, heavy moment when you wake up in the morning but can’t be bothered to get up yet. You are safe, in control, and awake the whole time.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists describes hypnotherapy as a form of psychological therapy using hypnosis to help treat certain mental and physical health conditions and to change habits.
In this calm state, we can:
We are not erasing the past. We are helping your nervous system stop living in the worst moment of the story.
You might feel sceptical or worried that it "won't work for you." That is completely normal. Most of my clients say they wish they had done this sooner.
Obsessed: Can’t let go of an ex-partner
Social Media: Constantly checking their social media
Shock: Feel in trauma around a bereavement
Tearful: Can’t stop crying over a loss
Breakdown: I want to regain my stability
Falling apart: I can’t imagine feeling normal again
Trapped: Caught in a loop of negative thinking
If you answered "yes" to any of these, you just need the right tools to change and I can help you.
If you aren't ready for one-to-one sessions yet, you can begin listening immediately with my Feel Amazing Hypnotherapy App. It features over 60 recordings.

Research into hypnotherapy for grief and bereavement is still developing, but early findings and broader hypnosis research are encouraging:
A randomized clinical trial in Istanbul compared Ericksonian hypnotherapy with CBT for prolonged grief in university students. Both treatments reduced grief symptoms; hypnotherapy produced comparable improvements and was particularly helpful for some emotional outcomes. Çınaroğlu et al., 2025 – International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis
A detailed case report of clinical hypnotherapy for unresolved grief showed that hypnosis helped the patient process the loss, accept the reality of the death and reduce hospitalisations related to their distress. Clinical Hypnotherapy in Grief Resolution (PMC)
Meta-analyses of hypnosis in other settings (such as surgery and medical procedures) show medium to large reductions in emotional distress and anxiety, suggesting hypnosis can be a powerful tool for easing intense feelings. Rosendahl et al., 2024 – Frontiers in Psychology
The Royal College of Psychiatrists recognises hypnosis and hypnotherapy as psychological approaches that can help change thoughts, feelings and habits and may be used alongside other therapies.
Mainstream grief care often includes bereavement counselling, CBT, complicated grief therapy and support groups, which have strong evidence for helping with complicated grief.
In practice, I use hypnotherapy to:
It’s not about “getting over it” overnight. It’s about helping your mind and body gradually let go of the constant agony, so you can live with your loss in a softer, more manageable way.

Gentle daily support for stress, sleep, anxiety, alcohol and habits.
