Feel better and more comfortable in a few appointments.
I specialise in helping women, like yourself, to change the patterns in their mind and body so intimacy can feel calm, relaxed and comfortable again.
Hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level to:
Many women quietly put up with painful or uncomfortable sex for years. It can creep in at different stages of life:
Every experience you’ve had forms patterns in your mind and nervous system. If your body has “learned” that penetration equals pain or fear, the muscles may tense automatically and your mind may switch into anxiety, dread or shutdown, even if you love and trust your partner.
“ I had a real shift since the hypnotherapy sessions. It was surprising how impactful they have been on my everyday life and my sex life.”
Maggie, Northampton

I work gently and at your pace and you don’t need to go into graphic detail. For many women, alcohol has become the way to “get through” sex or to numb the discomfort. Hypnotherapy gives you healthier tools so you don’t have to rely on wine or spirits to cope.
I’ll guide you step by step to achieve lasting change.
At home on the phone: I connect with English-speaking clients worldwide (UK, Europe, USA, Australia) via phone or WhatsApp audio, which works exceptionally well for hypnotherapy.
In-Person: I also see clients face-to-face at clinics at the Portland Clinic in Wimpole Street, London (W1) or in St Albans.

90 Minutes: The first half is a relaxed discussion. We talk about what is going on in your life and what you want to work on. We discuss patterns, triggers and goals. In the second half, I guide you through a tailored hypnotherapy session to release root causes and begin making changes immediately. You can cover multiple issues in each session.

60–75 Minutes: These are usually spaced two weeks apart to reinforce the changes and address any new layers that come up. Each session deepens the changes. You can have a top up at time in the future. Some clients like to have regular sessions to deal with life , work and business issues as they arise.

I typically work with clients over 2 to 4 appointments. I believe in a bespoke approach, some hypnotherapists might try to sign you up for a long, expensive course. I don't work that way. I start with a minimum of two appointments, with further sessions booked only based on your individual needs.

I cannot thank Ailsa enough for all the help she has given me. I would recommend her to anyone suffering from vaginismus. I still can’t believe I have been able to overcome this problem so quickly with her help.
Emily from Bristol, UK
I had struggled with vaginismus for many years but it wasn't until I got married that it became a massive issue. I would feel unbearable pain and was desperate for a solution after a few visits to a doctor and a therapist was unsuccessful I started to feel very depressed and started avoiding my husband. After a while I decided to look for alternative methods of treatment and that is when I started reading about hypnotherapy sessions but didn't have high expectations but I was shocked at the results after just one session I felt so much better and was able to have a physical relationship with my husband which I had never been able to do in the past because of the amount of pain I felt whenever we tried. After a couple more sessions and with the help of the Hypnosis Recordings I was given I am now able to have a normal physical relationship with my husband. I cannot thank Ailsa enough for all the help she has given me.

Since menopause sex became uncomfortable but the hypnotherapy helped me deal with the emotional side of things and get me to relax and enjoy my partner again.
Pam, Harrow
A rape when I was a student twenty years ago had always affected my relationship with sex, but the hypnotherapy seems to have changed all that. I feel comfortable and confident in my body.
Annemarie, Luton
Painful endometriosis had left me feeling put off from having sex but the hypnotherapy has changed the way I feel and see things and sex seems to now happen naturally without any pressure.
Trisha, Arizona
I have suffered with vaginismus symptoms for years and when I embarked on fertility I found some of the tests invasive. The hypnotherapy helped me to relax and overcome past trauma.
Chloe, Hampshire
Think of hypnotherapy as a fully conscious, deep relaxation. It feels a bit like that lovely, heavy moment when you wake up in the morning but can’t be bothered to get up yet. You are safe, in control, and awake the whole time.
In this relaxed state, your mind is more open to positive suggestions. The hypnotherapy acts like a software update: we rewrite that old programme, allowing you to easily create new habits. It is a powerful shift in thinking.
Whether you’re dealing with vaginismus, menopause-related pain, a history of difficult experiences or just a sense that intimacy has become stressful rather than nourishing, you don’t have to struggle alone.
Hypnotherapy can help you gently retrain your mind and body so you can feel safer, more relaxed and more at home in yourself – and from there, a more comfortable sex life becomes possible.
You might feel sceptical or worried that it "won't work for you." That is completely normal. Most of my clients say they wish they had done this sooner.

Falling oestrogen around perimenopause and menopause can lead to vaginal dryness, irritation and pain during intercourse, often called dyspareunia. The British Menopause Society describes Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) as a chronic condition affecting the vulva, vagina, bladder and urethra that can significantly impact comfort and sexual function. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists also notes vaginal dryness and loss of interest in sex as common menopause symptoms.
Local vaginal oestrogen, moisturisers, pelvic floor physio and lifestyle changes can all help. Hypnotherapy sits alongside this by reducing anxiety, improving body confidence and shifting negative expectations about sex so your body isn’t braced for pain before you even begin.
The NHS describes vaginismus as an involuntary tightening of the vaginal muscles that can make penetration painful or impossible. Treatment often involves pelvic floor exercises, graded vaginal trainers and relaxation-based approaches.
Hypnotherapy adds another layer by:
Reducing fear of penetration and anticipatory anxiety
Supporting pelvic floor “down-training” and relaxation
Reframing past experiences so your body no longer expects pain
Helping you stay calm while you work with dilators, lubricants or medical treatments recommended by your doctor or physio
Hypnotherapy can be a helpful part of treatment for sexual pain and chronic pelvic pain:
A clinical study comparing hypnotherapy with behaviour therapy for vaginismus found both approaches helped, but hypnotherapy was more effective for resolving vaginismus and improving sexual satisfaction, and was also time- and cost-efficient. Al-Sughayir, 2005 – Neurosciences Journal
A study on vulvar vestibulitis (a cause of intercourse pain) reported that hypnotherapy reduced pain during intercourse, improved some aspects of non-coital vulvar pain and helped restore sexual function, although larger trials are still needed. Pukall et al., 2007 – Journal of Sexual Medicine (PubMed)
A meta-analysis of hypnosis for dyspareunia (painful intercourse) found hypnosis significantly improved pain during sex compared with control conditions, with a strong overall effect size. Indonesian Journal of Medicine, 2020
A 2023 scoping review and meta-analysis of hypnotherapy for chronic pelvic pain found no significant difference in pain or quality of life compared with controls, and called for better randomised trials.
National guidelines for vaginismus and dyspareunia emphasise pelvic floor relaxation, vaginal trainers, psychological support and addressing underlying conditions. Hypnotherapy fits alongside these by:
Reducing fear, shame and anticipatory pain
Supporting relaxation and pelvic floor release
Building confidence, trust and safety in your own body
Together with appropriate medical and physiotherapy care, hypnotherapy can be a powerful part of a holistic plan to help you move towards comfortable, consensual and enjoyable sex. NHS: vaginismus

Gentle daily support for stress, sleep, anxiety, alcohol and habits.
